Artist Statement

I enjoy the challenge of capturing a person's likeness with the spontaneity that watercolor offers. Although I work in watercolor, I keep my easel upright. This requires me to work quickly, which I enjoy, layering in light washes while I catch and control the heavier ones. I prefer to work from life but also paint from the photos I take of my subjects.
